Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Sanibel-Captiva has a long tradition of providing scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievement and financial need.  Every year, the Club awards at up to three (3) Scholarships to High School seniors who live on the islands, or have relatives who work on the islands.

The Scholarships are the:

Jimmy  Traucht University of Florida Rotary Scholarship.   Created in honor of Dick Traucht’s son Jimmy.  Dick was an active Rotarian, and a founder and past president of the Sanibel-Captiva Club.

Bill Angst Florida Gulf Coast University Rotary Scholarship.  Named in honor of Bill Angst.  Bill was active in the community , a past president of the Sanibel-Captiva Club, and former President of the Sanibel Water Commission Board.

Dick Aldrich Rotary Scholarship.  Created in honor of the late Dick Aldrich, a very active member of the Sanibel-Captiva Club, and a resident of Sanibel for over 20 years.

The amount awarded for each scholarship is governed by the annual budget of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Trust Fund.  The minimum scholarship award is $3,000 annually, and is disbursed in increments of $1,500 per semester.  The scholarship may be renewed annually for four years of college to students who maintain superior scholastic performance.
